Keyboard & mouse gaming on your couch.

A mouse-centric lapboard for PC gaming on the big screen. Priced like a controller, not a desk.

Concept: keyboard dock, wrist rest, mouse surface, and cushioned base. Not the final design. Prototype to be depicted by EOY 2026.

Today, the living room is the new computer room.

Steam Machines and living-room PCs bring the desktop gaming experience straight to your TV — but controllers can't play every game. We're making the keyboard and mouse as comfortable and effortless to use on a couch or in an armchair as an Xbox, PlayStation, or Steam controller.

Fits your favorite keyboard

Designed to accommodate all keyboard types — from compact to full-size, wired or wireless — so you can keep playing on the board you already love. Mechanical keyboard enthusiasts are invited to join our trial run by emailing [email protected].

Room for your mouse

A smooth mouse surface sized for real gameplay, with no cramped spaces or bumping up against surface edges mid-flick. Playing FPS and RTS games on the TV without a controller has never been easier.

Steady on your lap

Ergonomically designed to eliminate mouse slippage and stay level — whether you’re in a chair or on the couch. Lightweight for easy carrying, yet compact enough to store out of sight.

Simple by design

Built without unnecessary electronics, dramatically lowering costs and eliminating dependencies that shorten product lifespan. If we ever go out of business, you don't.

We kept what players loved.

Four lapboards people still remember. Here’s what worked and what held each one back.

Corsair K63 Lapboard

  • ✓Worked:Full-size, replaceable mouse pad with room to play

Razer Turret

  • ✓Worked:Slim, wireless, easily storable
  • ✓Worked:Magnetic surface kept the mouse put

  • ✕Held back:Right-hand only

Corsair Lapdog

The market gap nobody filled.

All four are now discontinued and unsupported. Your current options are $30 laptop trays unsuited for gaming, or a $250 ultra-wide slab with USB hubs and RGB LEDs baked in.

We’re providing a better option: a layout players love, that supports the keyboard you already own, at a price that fits a computer peripheral not a piece of furniture.

Every other option misses at least two of the five boxes. KBM Lapboards is built to check all of them.

KBM Lapboards entries are design goals; the prototype is in progress and the price is a target, not final. Competitor details come from manufacturer announcements, published reviews, and owner experience. Prices are launch or list prices. No electronics you didn’t ask for. Just a comfortable place for your keyboard and mouse.

We did away with the vendor lock-in, the bloated features, and the extra cables. That’s how we bring the price down and keep couch gaming simple.

Why I’m building this

When my job gave me an iMac, it took over the desk I used for gaming. So I plugged my gaming PC into the TV and played from the couch on a long piece of cardboard I pulled from a box. Playing Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood on the big screen was so good that I didn’t want to go back to my monitor.

The cardboard warped and bent over time, and nothing I found for sale online or in the store gave me enough mouse room at a price I’d pay. The Couchmaster was far too expensive. The lapboard market was dead, and plenty of people like me had turned to DIY builds.

So I’m doing DIY at scale: a production-ready lapboard that combines what the best lapboards of the past and the best DIY and 3D-printed designs got right. No frills or dropping hundreds of dollars. PC parts and games are expensive enough, and a Steam Machine starts at over $1,000. Playing from your couch shouldn’t be another painful expense.
